Leadership in Aging

It may seem like a small thing, but starting conversations online can, and does, have an impact in the lives of older adults.

Part of the mission of the American Society on Aging is to bring multidisciplinary professionals in the field of aging together to share ideas. We can do that in variety of ways – at conferences, during web seminars, at regional networking events… and online!

One of the most exciting things about our new website is AgeBlog. Here, you can find posts from your colleagues, including the articles from the constituent group editorial boards as well as select articles from Generations an Aging Today. Not only do ASA members have unlimited access to this wealth of information, but you can add your thoughts, ideas, and comments.

How To Get Started

If you read a blog post and have a question or comment, simply click "Add New Comment” at the end of the article. We moderate comments to prevent abuse (This is a friendly space after all, and no one wants to offend the penguins.) So if your comment doesn’t appear right away, it will be posted shortly and you will be notified when someone replies to your comment.

You can also engage with others in our forums. Get feedback on a project, ask questions of your peers, share your knowledge – Members can use the forums to start conversations about any topic, or to discuss the articles posted in AgeBlog.

What if I'm not an ASA Member?

Well, you should join! But while you're thinking about it, you still have access to some blog posts -- like this one, and also select articles from Generations (ASA's journal) and Aging Today (our newspaper). If you want to leave a comment, we simply ask that you create an account (this is free) and then go for it!

Get connected, stay informed, and share your thoughts!

The point is, everyone can benefit from your ideas! So share them. Either by leaving comments in the blog, conversing in the forums, presenting at or attending conferences and web seminars, or posting on facebook, twitter or linked in

Because... when you start conversations with your colleagues online, your input can spark an idea that leads to a program or initiative that touches the lives of countless older adults you may have never even met. And that’s the whole point, right?

What do you think? Leave a comment and let us know!
